Sawtooth Canyon high in the California Mojave Desert ~ a tucked away treasure I've visited many times, overlooking many miles of mountains towards the distant Sierra Nevada.

 

Winter brings delicious storms to replenish cactus gardens for spring blooms in the day and bats to eat at night, when Coyotes howl and Mountain lions prowl. Ever-changing pools of shadow contrast with sunlit hills and strange silhouettes appear from lava formations standing like sentinels of time.
