Joshua Tree is like visiting another planet. It sits high in the Mojave Desert above and beyond the rest of the world. Winter winds will wreck your camp, the sun will keep you away in the summer, but with the right timing, heaven awaits.

This is a five-panel panorama, measureing 100 inches wide. The whole scene was first created with white oil paint on black, the color was next added in transparent washes, as one would with watercolor pigment, but using oil paints. It's a unique method developed durning my previous "shutdown" year, marooned in the Caribbean without regular paint supplies. Necessity being ever the mother of invention. This painting was a joy to make and it shows.​
